DALLAS – Feb. 1, 2012 – Whether you are concerned about a child with food allergies or caring for an aging parent, UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Carolyn P. Horchow Women’s Health Symposium has a topic of interest to every woman, at every stage of life.
The annual symposium on the North Campus, scheduled for Feb. 7, is titled “It’s What’s Inside That Counts.” The half-day program will offer participants a bounty of useful information from the medical center’s renowned physicians, beginning with a continental breakfast and CPR training session (participation optional) at 8:30 a.m., to a talk by a Nobel laureate whose research led to the development of statin drugs, to an address by one of UT Southwestern’s own faculty members – the new president of the American Cancer Society. The formal program concludes at noon, followed by a lunch with the presenters.

Dr. Karen Bradshaw, medical director of the Lowe Foundation Center for Women’s Preventative Health Care at UT Southwestern, is faculty advisor for the event. Dr. Carol Podolsky, pediatrician, is physician advisor.
The symposium is named in honor of co-founder Carolyn P. Horchow, a generous friend and long-time supporter of UT Southwestern who died in 2009.
The registration fee for the symposium is $35, which includes lunch. The symposium will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 14th floor of the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building, 6001 Forest Park Road, Dallas.
