Overview

Children’s Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern (CRI) is an innovative collaboration between Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center that melds the leading clinical resources of Children’s with the outstanding research resources of UT Southwestern.

Led by Sean J. Morrison, PhD, an internationally recognized adult stem cell researcher and cancer biologist, CRI’s mission is to perform “game changing” research at the interface of stem cell biology, cancer, and metabolism.

CRI’s guiding principles:

  • Recruit the best scientists
  • Invest in potentially transformative research
  • Integrate basic science with clinical medicine

CRI’s mission is to perform transformative biomedical research that has the potential to create new scientific fields and to discover the therapies of tomorrow. When we make discoveries that have the potential to improve the treatment of disease, we will invest in translational research to try to deliver the benefits of that work to patients. Ultimately, our goal is to cure somebody who would not be cured otherwise.
