Employee Advisory Council

As an outcome of the UT Southwestern Strategic Planning Initiative, UT Southwestern established an Employee Advisory Council to enhance communication, promote employee commitment, build community, and improve Medical Center operations. The Council consists of administrative and professional staff elected by their peers who meet regularly to discuss issues of significant interest to UT Southwestern employees. The President meets with the group periodically to hear its members’ perspectives and to have their partnership in ensuring that UT Southwestern staff understand—and take pride in contributing to—our priorities and vision for our future stemming from our fundamental missions of research, education, and patient care.

The Employee Advisory Council met for the first time in August 2010. Members include (front row, from left) Teresa Bosler, information resources; Aziza Young, neonatal intensive care unit; Tara Buggs, parking services; Adis Umpierre, environmental health and safety; Natalie Binns, nursing administration; and chair of the council Shawna Ridley, health information management. In the back row (from left) are Eric Benham, general accounting; Darlene Reynolds, biochemistry; Wanda Simpson, molecular biology; Mark McKean, University Police; and Serena Boaz, imaging services. The Council will work on issues of importance to all employees and will interface with the President's Office for communication and action. Members of the council not in attendance included Brenda Pallares, cell biology; Eric Shellhorn, cardiology; Cindy Robinson, anesthesiology and pain management; and Dinah Barrilleaux, radiology.
