Dr. Herbert S. Salomon’s career as a physician was cut short after losing a ten-year battle with cancer in 1971, just four years after graduating from UT Southwestern Medical School. But according to his brother, Stephen, Dr. Salomon’s story should not focus on the tragedy of his death, but rather on his incredible perseverance to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.

A new school year has begun, but Mansfield Legacy High School students are still celebrating their achievement last spring in raising $42,000 to sponsor mammograms for uninsured women in Tarrant County.

The Kenny Can Foundation recently presented UT Southwestern Medical Center with a check for $50,000, the Foundation’s second grant to the Medical Center in support of promising research that could one day uncover new treatment options for glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer.

Dallas/Fort Worth Hyundai dealers joined Hyundai Motor America in awarding a $40,000 grant to support pediatric cancer research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The funds, which were given through Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels program, will support the research of Dr. Raven Cooksey, a fellow at UT Southwestern.
